Cliveden stayed a house, not a conference centre. Each room took on a different role as the programme unfolded, while talks became conversations, with speakers and guests gathered on sofas rather than sitting in rows. Between sessions, the experience moved beyond the house, including a private McLaren experience before everyone returned to the Great Hall for dinner. In the Great Hall, a menu by Clare Smyth, live piano and candlelight shifted the mood again. An evening designed to feel more like being hosted than attending an event.
